I have decided to use this site as a bulletin board for my students work. My hope is that by exhibiting my students work it will motivate them to do better job knowing that it will be on display worldwide. To be specific I will use this site for my 9th grade Health Class and I think that my students will enjoy posting their ideas/projects on the harmful effects of smoking, the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol, the risk associated with unprotected sex, the benefits of healthy eating and staying physically fit.

I agree that most students will enjoy having their projects posted, and can be more motivating then just a paper that they are going to throw away on their way out the door. What about the ones that are not motivated? I have students each year that could care less. Will you place up “bad” work too? It seems that we are starting to infringe on students rights too. Just playing devils advocate here, what if a student does not want their work published or posted? It seems we would have to respect that request. These are just things to think about so you will be ready to deal with it when it comes up.
ReplyDeleteIt would be neat if classes could work collaboratively with other sections or even schools on creating their own blog sites about smoking with links and attachments of their original work. There could be some sort of prize for the winning group/class/or school.
You bring up a very valid point! I would work around this by not posting the students name with their work. This would allow them to work in anonymity and still particpate. Bad work will not be accepted for these posted assignments until it is satisfactorily corrected.
